Fire Protection Pump Sets

The Specialist in Fire Protection Pumps; Godwin can design, manufacture and test pumpsets fully complying with India Standards.

We offer all types of pumps for the Fire Protection market from split case diesel driven units to end suction electric driven units as well as jockey pumps and controls.

A fire pump is a part of a fire sprinkler system's water supply and powered by electric, diesel. The pump intake is either connected to the public underground water supply piping, or a static water source (e.g., tank, reservoir, lake). The pump provides water flow at a higher pressure to the sprinkler system rises and hose standpipes. Fire pumps function either by an electric motor or a diesel engine, or, occasionally a steam turbine. The fire pump starts when the pressure in the fire sprinkler system drops below a threshold. The sprinkler system pressure drops significantly when one or more fire sprinklers are exposed to heat above their design temperature, and opens, releasing water. Alternately, other fire hoses reels or other firefighting connections are opened, causing a pressure drop in the fire fighting main.

As fire protection engineers, our team often selects fire pumps for various designs. Due to the size, magnitude, and building height of the projects, municipal water supplies often are not capable of providing the required pressures to meet fire protection system (automatic sprinklers and standpipes) demand. Therefore, fire pumps are specified to boost pressures that are needed for these systems to protect the building and its occupants.

This team’s first choice in selecting fire pumps is to use an electric-driven pump. An electric-driven pump is easier to design, is easier to maintain on a regular basis, and does not require external fuel to operate the pump. It lends itself to a cleaner and more efficient system.
